Lately, I have been thinking a lot about commitment. What am I committed to? Principles? Truth? Children? Politics? Many of my tennis buddies scoff at me when I speak up for Trump, although not as many as did in the past. I read an account of the Obama interview on the NBC Today show. Obama accused Trump of scapegoating and appealing to people's fear of the future. The interviewer of course allowed Obama to express opinion after opinion, unfettered, without any challenge. It was like the first part of Margaritaville, where Buffett/Obama claims it was not his fault. Of course a few notes later Buffett does admit it was all his fault.
The irony for me is that while Obama accused trump of politicking on fear, he turned right around an used fear to politic against him. Obama tried to frighten the American people by claiming a Trump presidency would be disastrous for the country. This sounds like politicking of fear to me.
And of course, there is the premise that Obama offered that Trump is appealing to American's "fear of the future." NBC failed to point out to Obama that if Obama had performed better the last few years, maybe Americans would not have this "fear of the future." If I was more committed, I would delete NBC from my TV channels for pandering to the President. Trump should demand equal time because the NBC interview was a blatant advertisement for Hillary.
It is not possible to educate the American people to the nuances of economics, legal system, job creation, taxes and fair trade. The shock strategy is the only way and he is committed.
