The Unbearable Smugness of the Press

I stole the title.

CBS news published the best commentary on the shameful press that I have ever read.  You can search on the above title and it will surely come up. Read it. It is persuasive.

My summary is that the press missed the real story. They were too busy mocking people who had a better sense of what was happening than the mainstream media. If Hillary had won, the press would have winked at each other for their bravery at contributing to the demise of "liar" Trump in favor of "honest" Hillary. However, there was no winking, just eating crow because they had the descriptions reversed.

And now with no remorse, the press is already criticizing Trump for not letting them ( the press core) follow him around and report on his activities. Modern journalism has failed its readers with glib analysis, obscenely biased reporting and utter contempt for the electorate. Why should Trump let the press spend the next 4 years asserting with their words of power (written from positions of questionable righteousness) that they were right all along and feed the flames of divisiveness that they punched Trump in the gut with?  After 18 months of labeling Trump a racist, a sexist and other demeaning things, the press has no humility. The press must re-earn the right to cover Trump.

It is time the press realizes that they have no understanding of the country they claim to cover. I have been saying it for 12 months - the press (the main stream media) have lost their position of investigative superiority and objectivity, if they ever had it.

And I am smug about it.
