Money talks rhetoric walks.

Do you remember Pakistan? The country is known to house terrorists among other things. When we descended on Pakistan to kill Osama Bin Laden, Pakistan was angry that we did not alert them first.

Times have changed.

Secretary of State Kerry is about to give them $1.6 Billion in foreign aid. No strings attached. The money is to help them fight terrorism and other things. Pakistan apparently does not like the drones America flies over their country and America wants to have Pakistan crack down on militant terrorist havens. Also according to reports, America wants Pakistan to help with the reconciliation between Taliban and Afghan leaders. Frankly, I do not understand any of it.

It is, put plainly, a $1.6 Billion bribe to Pakistan to be our friend. And who knows where the money really goes? I can guarantee Kerry does not. The Pakistani prime minister Nawaz Sharif is in Washington this week to get his check. Kerry says Pakistan is an important friend to America. One news agency says he lauds them. Really?

Ans so it goes. The money flows. And congress frets about funding essential government activities. Oh to be prime minister of a foreign country and pocket a few billion dollars is to have a place in history.

Money talks.

By the way, if the Tom Hanks movie is genuinely representative of real life, then you do not ever want to mess with the US Navy.
