There is only one reason not to fly SWA ---- and that is ---- if SWA does not go where you want to go. However, with flights to more than 100 cities in the
I am not a stockholder in the company, but I do fly them frequently during the year. Friends of mine just visited me in Rancho Mirage, CA. They were confirmed American Airlines and Delta travelers. On this trip, they tried SWA and were delighted. Here are the reasons they gave me for switching to SWA.
First, they were surprised to find out they did not have to pay for baggage. Bags fly free. They thought this ad was initially a senior slam. It is not. Second, they were surprised how easy the A, B, C check in and loading was. They did not have to print boarding passes and could check in with their smart phones.
Additionally, they had to change their flight while they were visiting. Guess what? SWA does not charge for flight changes. And they also were told what I have known for years that if you cancel your flight entirely after paying for it, you do not lose any of your money. There is no cancellation fee and no rebooking fee. The money is reserved by SWA under your name. With your confirmation number, you can use all your money on your next flight. With American, Delta and many of the other airlines, you lose your money or you are charged up to $150 rebooking fee. It is just a stupid policy, and begs for merciless complaining.
And of course try and get your money back from Expedia or any of the other Internet booking sites. And as you may have guessed because of the absurd charges associated with Internet booking websites, SWA does not sell their tickets through any of the Internet sites. Their site is not only more user friendly, but it is money friendly and that is an important consideration for all of us seniors. Oh, some of us have plenty of money, but now that we are seniors, we are not about to throw it down the drain because airlines do not copy the customer friendly policies of SWA. Seniors let's band together and fly SWA at www.southwestairlines.com and let’s show the other airlines that with age does come wisdom.
