There was extensive readership yesterday on the issue of making bottle rockets.
One reader wrote that it was unlikely, if not impossible, America could ever make bottle rockets because manufacturing, distributing and storing explosives is dangerous and a regulatory nightmare in America.
Another reader wrote America could stop China from making bottle rockets by requiring them to implement OSHA in their own country.
And there you have it. Manufacturing is always less expensive in countries that do not have the same regulations that America has.
Where is the stupid hypocrite? It might be us.
-Stupid for implementing regulatory standards that force American companies to stop making certain products.
-Hypocritical for then purchasing the same products from countries that have little or no regulatory standards.
-and do all this in the spirit of "economic globalization."
The irony of these type of government policies is indisputable.
And the irony is astonishing yet predictable.
