Obamacare. Blame the Colleges. Blame the professors.

Today, I resist the inclination to jump into the health insurance foray. Frankly, I am embarrassed to be an American and bear witness to the name calling, blame pointing and financial damage that has been done to millions of Americans by Obamacare.  The current substandard plan argument, that Obamacare alleges it is replacing, is specious. Further the WH talking points recite that it only hurts 4-10 million Americans, or perhaps a few million more. Who knows?

The WH says the pain is necessary to make the "insurance industry better." Further, Americans are not even indignant at the absolute arrogance of an apology by our president. It is easy to say, "I am sorry" when there is no punishment for screwing up. Even our children know that. The conservatives have been pitched a softball. However, they are simply striking out again at the barrage of hyper-words cloaking the pitch.

Now for the real story.

Everyday I read a new human interest story about another college graduate who can not find a job. Just this morning, I read an article about a student who graduated from Vanderbilt University with a Masters Degree in Organizational Behavior that can not find a job. The writer blamed the student's problem on a poor economy. Correction. Blame the college.

Blame the college for still teaching skills that are not in demand and misleading students that many degrees are meaningful. Heaven for bid that, given the circumstances that face the nation, universities still give degrees in political science. It is clearly not a science.

Blame the professors for teaching subjects that have been bypassed by the needs of a technology driven society. Blame the professors who continue to teach what they know, even though, what they know is not relevant any more. People, who have skills in Java, website development, programming, mobile application developers, are all in demand. Such demand that we have to import these skills from other countries.

Universities are often characterized as ivory towers. And they are.
