Why did Obama visit Azerbaijan?

Where is Azerbaijan? Do not look just guess. It hit the news recently because its president released the 

election results before the election was over, according to Max Fisher a reporter for the Washington Post. In fairness to Azerbaijan's President iiham Aliyev, the official story was that the election results were allegedly from an earlier election that were inadvertently released as a test of the electronic press release system, or something like that. A major gaffe, but so what. If the administration controls the communications in a country, then all will be covered over with a old blanket of new words. It is an oil and gas rich country of approximately 9 million people

Of course, the Obamas have visited the country and have had a photo op. Azerbaijan borders Iran and I am betting that America has a military post in that country monitoring Iran. Or perhaps they were discussing election strategies.

Why else would President Obama visit there?
