Presidential debates are serious events. Vice presidential debates are too. Biden acted like he was in a high school debate trying to take the moderator to prom. It was sad.
As an American I was embarrassed to watch Biden, our VP. He was condescending, rude, besmirching, impolite, offensive, and abrupt. His guffawed laughter at Ryan's remarks was befitting a moron, not a sitting vice president.
His constant referral to Romney and Ryan as "Those Guys" and his sarcastic referral to Ryan as "my friend" only served to increase my lack of trust for the words that spewed forth from his mouth, like oil from an old damaged tanker. Frankly, I expect more from our elected officials than an exhibition of pure patronizing superiority. The only comment that Biden did not make was to refer to Ryan as his, "Son." Perhaps this would have been so offensive that even Ryan would have lost his cool.
Young people are understandably becoming more apathetic about the whole political scene. And this attitude is a tragedy when we are at a time that we need our best minds to help sort out the complex issues that govern us all.
Biden's ranting and raving may go down as a Pyrrhic victory. However, he did what he was paid to do.
And that is the part that sticks in my craw. It makes me want to vomit all over my absentee voting ballot.
As an American, we deserve better, but we get what we vote for.
