Does this Bell have a ring to it?

Have you followed the saga of Bell, California?

Briefly, the mayor of Bell explained that he did not speak English and that is why he was not aware that the city manager was being paid $800,000 a year. Bell has a population of approximately 36,000 people.

Gosh I wish I was just making this up.

The story has focused on the corrupt city officials. I wish the story would explore the backgrounds of the city residents and an election that resulted in electing a mayor that admitted he does not speak English. I suspect he does not read it either or he would have known that he likely approved the city manager's salary.

A judge sentenced the mayor to a year in jail and 1,000 hours of community service. The judge must have forgot that the mayor does not speak English and he just ripped off a community of numerous services. And the fox was sentenced to 1 year in the hen house for eating chickens. It reminds me of the punishment for students that miss school. They are suspended from class.

Whoopee!," said the fox, the mayor and the students.

I imagine the residents of Bell have had a bell-yfull of this incident.
