You can fool most of the people all the time.

I predicted several months ago that the ACA website would make its goals.

I told the republicans to stop wasting time on killing the ACA, it is here to stay. I told you so. And as of April 1, the ACA anbd Obama are a shouting success. It was predetermined. Sure the ACA has been modified, rectified and extendified, but the numbers, 7.1 million enrollees, affirm the ACA success. Of course the numbers do nothing of the sort, but media affirmations are evidentiary. People believe it. USA today was touting the ACA as the comeback kid.  It has managed a remarkable comeback says the USA commentator. And so on.

Of course, we do not know the make-up of the 7.1 million, e.g. how many paid, how many signed up at state websites, how many already had insurance etc. None of this matters because details do not matter. Headlines rule the world. Obama will never disclose the details of the ACA website and the commentators are too tired to drill down, and who really cares anyway? Does anyone read the paper? And the TV channels are too busy giving us the sound byte headline with details to follow right after the advertisement, or the sponsor, to genuinely respect the viewer.

What does it mean? It means the republicans have been relegated to the party preventing progress instead of the party promoting great ideas. Perception always dominates reality. Meanwhile, health insurance rates go up for all of us, proving you can fool most of the people all the time.
