He believes the republicans are in a losing game. No matter what the fight, or what the facts are, or how rational their position may be, they are destined to lose. My friend attributes this loss to the media and it is his opinion that information is king. In the nutshell, if a group controls the information flow to the citizenry, the group controls the result. The republicans do not control or even have a positive influence on the information fed to Americans. The liberals do.
People believe what they read. The media reinforces its position by reporting on independent polls. Independent polls are taken from people who form their opinions on what they read. Ergo, the polls are not independent and only prove the indisputable effectiveness of slanted media reporting on a grand scale. People indeed do believe what they read and form their opinions accordingly. The world is flat until proven otherwise.
My wise friend believes that the republicans will continue to lose until they develop another method of getting their message to Americans. Distributing rational information about critical issues through the liberal news media, electronic or print, is like trying to force a steel rod through a concrete wall. It simply will not go through.
The political battle is about distributing information to rational Americans. And there may be a light on the horizon. According to my observations, few people under 30 read the newspapers and fewer watch the jaded TV newscasters who artistically twist the English language and rewrite the context of most anything that is uttered negatively about this administration in order to castrate a conservative point of view. e.g. It is possible to be against the affordable care act and still be in favor of making sure that people receive needed medical treatment. e.g. It is possible to be against raising the debt limit and still be in favor of government providing essential services.
Netflix maybe the answer.
It is not a trivial notion.
