Do you have an uninvited house guest? I do.

There is someone living in my home I do not know. Why do I say that? Because he gets so much mail.

Today, he received a 70 page brochure on cooking utensils, a notice of Free Donation pick-up, a no annual fee credit card application, a new air conditioner special, an opportunity to save $3,667 on kitchen appliances, a gift discount notice form Reader's Digest and a special offer inside from a new retail store.

The United States Post Office complains they are losing money. I am not surprised. They are complicit in sending advertisements to me, which I have not asked for. I throw these special offers in the trash, which must be picked up and hauled to the local landfill, which I the taxpayer am compelled to pay for. The advertisers do not. The Post office does not. The cycle continues unabated. In fact, it is accelerating.

Oh, the person living in my home might live in your home too. He goes by the name current resident.

How do I strike back? I can not.

Money saving suggestion for the USPTO. Destroy all mail with the word resident in the address. Then charge the sender for the costs to destroy the mail.
