The Summer of Syrian Stupidity

Obama spoke.

As I heard it, he said, even though other countries are unwilling to punish the Syrian government and the UN is equally unwilling to support military action, I , your commander in chief, Obama, stand ready to make a limited military strike. Hey folks. Let's kill a few people and destroy a few targets as punishment. If Syria is willing to use chemical weapons of mass destructions on their own people, as Obama insists, then would Syria be deterred by a few lousy SCUD missiles from using chemical weapons on America, who clearly is not a Syrian friend. No sir, they would not. Bullies are not deterred by a few scratches and seldom care what the international community thinks. Come to think of it that may describe us.

Russian Premier Putin has asked that Obama present the clear and convincing evidence Obama says he has. Putin has also asked the question, has any limited military strike by America ever made any difference? Two questions that any sensible person would ask.

According to the AP, the USA has identified approximately 400 military targets. These are locations where it is morally acceptable for us to kill people. However, America is prohibited from targeting the president of Syria because America's foreign policy prohibits us from assassinating the president of a foreign country unless they attack American first. We can assassinate his family and all his friends, but not the president.

It is acceptable to assassinate most anyone else. I do not make this stuff up, that is why I call it Syrian Stupidity.

Obama is so clever that he has passed the military baton to congress. Only a Clinton could have recommended that win win strategy. Where does the buck stop?

My suggestion. Russia is Syria's trading partner. Let them deal with it or not. Meanwhile, let's get our heath care problems solved and get our own economy moving.
