My research showed that a state did try secession, but it was overturned by the U.S. supreme court. This action make no sense to me. Why would you ask your parent for permission to run away from home? Some parents might buy you a ticket and help you pack, but most would say "No way," like the supreme court did.
If you have some interest in a fiction novel on secession, read this pitch and if it teases you a little, purchase the novel. It is titled, In My Opinion: The PM Note. Writing novels is what I do when I not writing blogs.
---------------------------PITCH
What if one of your most innocuous pieces of office equipment has been transmitting confidential corporate information, possibly for years? And even more dangerous...what if you discover that the same types of machines were already installed in top secret government offices, leaking sensitive information to an unknown foe?
In My Opinion: The PM Note
Against the backdrop of a proposed Alaskan secession, expert witness David Dawson uncovers a lurking, hibernating technology that will be triggered to undermine the US economy. He and his team are swept into a dangerous international intrigue that includes a German prince and a far-reaching global conspiracy.
David Dawson heads D&Z Partners, an expert witness firm specializing in high tech, high dollar court cases. Engaged to investigate a simple patent infringement, he discovers a sinister plot, entangling an Iranian bureaucrat and a German prince, leading to the murder of a judge. Confidential government and corporate secrets are already being relayed wirelessly to the conspirators against the backdrop of a world-changing vote on Alaskan secession; the ripple effects will be catastrophic…unless Dawson can stop them.
Author Robert J. Sherwood has served as an expert witness for over fifteen years. His experience as a Silicon Valley entrepreneur, which took him to South Africa, Iran, Cyprus, and Europe gives him a unique background for creating compelling fiction. In My Opinion: The PM Note is the first of his three completed novels in the David Dawson series.
