Alan Krueger plays tennis with Tim Geithner.

Alan Krueger, Princeton professor, is named to head Obama's Council of Economic Advisors. Krueger fits the Obama "hiring" template. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. It is a trite, but true statement. The administration can not change things if it insists on hiring the same people, just with different names. In other words as near as I can tell, we have another Harvard graduate with no business experience.
While with the Treasury department, he did work on the cash for clunkers programs. There was a winner! He also worked to show that terrorists often come from middle-class and often are college educated. That profile describes me. I guess that qualifies him for something.
The WSJ wrote that each member of the council - by law, is to be a person "who, as a result of his training, experience, and attainments, is exceptionally qualified to analyze and interpret economic developments, to appraise programs and activities of the government…and to formulate and recommend national economic policy to promote employment, production, and purchasing power under free competitive enterprise."
I can not imagine how anyone who has been in academia all his adult life can possibly have the experience to make reasonable recommendations to promote employment. In my mind, as much as I listen to people who teach theory, I will follow those who actually practice. According to reports, he is tennis buddies with Summers, past council director, and Geithner.
Hire the same get the same. Obama genuinely believes he is on the right track and hence he rides the same horses.
I do not. I am in favor of  banning Obama from the track, as soon as possible.
