President candidate responses I would like to hear.

Every interviewer asks every presidential candidate, the same questions. Here are a few of the responses I would like to hear.

"Mr. Candidate, what is your plan for the government to create jobs?"
The government does not create jobs.  Let me repeat. THE GOVERNMENT DOES NOT CREATE JOBS. The last time I looked, businesses like IBM, Google, Facebook and Apple were hiring people. America's companies create jobs, not the government.  CEOs, that I talk to, wish government would get out of the way. I do not know of a CEO who credits government with job creation, if anything, government regulations, inhibit the natural practice of job creation. Government regulations, from the EPA to tax policies, have created jobs in every country, but America. Certainly the government can impact jobs by allocating federal funds for bridges, highways and national infrastructure, but it is the companies that do the hiring.

If anything, government regulations drive jobs into other countries, just like the investigation of IBM did in 80's and Microsoft in the 90's. IBM, an American computer technology icon, now has more employees in India than America. They are in India because the Indian government makes it easy for IBM  to do business there, not difficult.

India, as well as other countries, appreciate the companies that create jobs. America investigates them. Our government created the environment that encouraged outsourcing employment to other countries. Apple has 1,000,000 people in China making iPhones and iPads. If elected president, I would ask Steve Jobs, Apple CEO, what  regulations, taxes, EPA or otherwise must we change to get some of those  manufacturing jobs back into America, including the provision of significant tax reductions for Apple, as an incentive, then I would work feverishly to get it done over the objection of any congress person that was on the way. My goal would be to reduce or completely eliminate job restricting, tax inhibiting government regulations and allow American firms to create 5 million new jobs in 24 months.

"Mr. Candidate, isn't it just cheaper to make products in China?
People argue labor is cheaper. Go travel to China and stay in a hotel. It is not cheap. However, labor is a small part of the cost of manufacturing. There is materials, shipping and other associated costs. For example, if you wish to build a manufacturing plant in China to build electronic products, you are not burdened by excessive EPA regulations and the save the rare insect crowd. Building jobs for people trumps displacing a pond where a rare insect lives.

"Mr. Candidate, which regulations would you eliminate?"
I do not know. And I will not sit in this interview and guess. I would ask the CEOs of the companies that create the jobs. If I were told that cutting capital gains taxes to zero, would create more companies like Google and Facebook, which now employ more people than GE hired in the last 3 years, then that is what I would do. I certainly would not ask the Department of Commerce. Its record of economic development eliminates them from the survey.

  1. Keep this stimulating and interesting 'thought ticklers' flowing. Good for America as they 'process' WHO to vote for.
