While the politicians fill space with rhetoric, China intends to fill space with a space station. The Associated Press has reported that around 2013, China plans to launch a lunar probe to the moon. The report cited that "Space leadership is highly symbolic of national capabilities and international influence, and a decline in space leadership will be seen as symbolic of a relative decline in U.S. power and influence," said Scott Pace, an associate NASA administrator in the George W. Bush administration. He was a supporter of Bush's plan - shelved by President Barack Obama - to return Americans to the moon.
For you naysayers and skeptics, it is not just about going to the moon. It is about the spin-off technologies and science that is associated with the audacious goal. NASA costs less than the research dollars haphazardly thrown to our universities, yet the NASA program produces companies that commercialize new technologies and ship the resulting products all over the world. That activity produces jobs as well as experienced scientists for other industries. Yes, I understand we need the universities to educate the scientists in the first place, but we do not need to fund $billions to universities with no tax payer return. Take a look at a shuttle launch if you wish to observe employment created by NASA funding.
No doubt China will be launching our communication satellites like Russia is doing now. Well pinch me awake, I now understand the Obama space strategy. America drops out of space exploration, while China takes its place. Then America can save money by having Russia and China bid against each other to build the rockets and launch our secret communication sattelites. The Obama strategy is clever. It will save America billions of dollars through the competitive bidding process. These Harvard graduates are sharp.
But wait, Mr. webtalkwithbob won't that mean that America will lose the jobs, the technologies, the scientists and also risk compromising national security by having another country launch our communication satellites? Yes, that is a legitimate question. I will tweet Obama for the answer on that now.
And what did he say?
He said, "The republicans made him do it."
Join me in my fire Obama campaign.
