RE:$42,500 LOST PROPERTY VALUE
Dear President Obama:
Like many people across America, I just received my “2011 Annual Notice of Value.” This Notice is sent by the county appraiser’s office setting a value on a person’s home. I was stunned.
My home value decreased by $42,200 from the 2008 appraisal. I lost more than $40,000 in two years. I was not responsible. You are Mr. Obama and your gang of advisors. I know I am not alone and that more than 70 million other American families are receiving a similar letter.
The catastrophic loss of equity value is devastating to the economy. Many people were counting on their home equity for investment, for retirement, to start a new business, or to finance their children’s college education. Those options are now gone and you are to blame.
Do not blame it on the banks . Sure they are unwilling to lend to finance new homes and sustain demand. But they can only react to the polices your administration has created. Perhaps if you would have allowed AIG to fail, rather than lend them $185 billion of our money, things would have been different. We will never know will we?
Further, despite your advisor’s assurances that their actions have saved America from financial devastation, all the evidence is to the contrary. AIG still exists, but trillions of dollars in the personal wealth of American families does not exist any more. Millions of families’ hope for retirement and the dream of college education for their children has been supplanted by bailouts for corporations.
Mr. Obama, I made the mistake of voting for you in the last presidential election. I will not make the same mistake twice.
Sincerely yours,
Robert Sherwood
