The circumstances surrounding the kidnapping of Jaycee Lee Dugard cries out for better information sharing for our nation's police forces. The kidnapper was a known felon who lived near the scene of the incident. There were reports on suspicious activity at the kidnappers home. And so on. And so on. A basic analysis of the situation would cause a person to check and double check the kidnappers residence and story.
But a lack of information prevented the right decisions form being made. This situation screams for a national DNA felon data base and a national data base of felon locations. Yes, I understand the "liberal" concerns - That being once a felon has served his/her prison time, he/she gets to start anew from a position of presumed innocence. This is a naive position. How many data points does it take to recognize a trend. Following and tracking the trend should trump the privacy of a serial felon.
