Manning will ride those Clydesdales on SNL.

The defense handed Manning a ticket to retirement from the top of a winning mountain rather than the floor of a losing valley. They crossed a dangerous precipice with a safe retirement bridge for a person that makes funny ads and, except for yesterday, has treated us all to some thrilling football.  It is a movie story with a romantic ending. And by now, we all know he drinks Budweiser and I, for one, can hardly wait until he hosts SNL. I imagine that Budweiser will have Manning do an ad while he rides a magnificent Clydesdale.

And now we can all focus on politics and making a living, until the NBA finals and baseball season begins. We hardly have time to focus on who will be our next president, unemployment, falling oil prices, the stock market 401k decimation and illegal immigration. The age of Obama is over. It is only highlighted by a fruitless occasional executive order or meaningless press announcement. Reagan ran for president by posing a simple question to the people, "Are you better off today that you were 4 years ago?" No POTUS candidate has asked me yet, but I am not.

I pay more for health premiums, car insurance, housing and food. Alright gas is cheaper. I see many of my friends downsized by shrunken companies or accepting lower paying jobs to stay employed. And as I have said before I can not find a single aisle in Wal-Mart with American made products, nor can I shop at Costco to buy American made electronics, such as TVs, smart phones or computers.

I feel like Denver. I am hanging on to a defensive thread hoping the long pass does not work, and that time does not run out before Americans remember, they were once the favored country. The Panthers forgot. It was a romantic ending to a football game and I am not sure the ending will be duplicated in the economy game. The stock market is already indicating an unfavorable conclusion. Times have changed and we may all be disappointed waiting for the market to go back up.

For me, I am taking defensive action.
