Did Matt Drudge tell you what to think today?

Who is Matt Drudge? No, that is me on the left. Drudge is younger, has a bigger nose and wears a straw hat. Really.

Turn on your radio or watch CNN or MSNBC and you will hear the media genuflect to the power of Drudge. He is exalted and placed on a media pedestal and given the title of the "single most influential person in the American media."  Drudge is credited, by many in the media, with determining what you read in the newspapers, what you here on radio and even what you read on the Internet. I personally never even heard of him until yesterday. Did you? You can get an app called "The Hill" and read about this fellow Drudge. One news source claims that Drudge is the second most influential person in America after the President.

And this disclosure by the media elite reinforces for me the inevitability of a new media that individuals report on en mass with no filtering by the Drudges of the world. Tim Cook called it a few weeks ago. It is no secret that Advertisers are defecting from the likes of Time magazine, The New York Times, most other local newspapers and the TV talk shows. The content is simply too recklessly shallow and the language is too deliberately emotionally charged. I have lost interest in watching anything except ESPN.

I am not sure what is next, but the Drudge disclosure confirms for me that traditional media is on its way-out.
