Pun Damental Thoughts.

Did you hear about the Buddhist who refused Novocain during a root-canal? His goal: transcend dental medication. 

Sometimes we prefer the pain to the treatment. Many people who do stuff refuse to learn from the experiences of other people. My partner putted in front of me. His putt had the same line as mine and his ball broke left to right. I stood over my ball and said to myself, "No way, the ball breaks right to left." 

I acted on my assessment contrary to what I had just observed. I missed my putt. I failed to use the experience of others in making my own decision. This is a simple example, with innocuous negative consequences, but still relevant to the principle illustrated by the pun.
