I am an analyst. I look for facts. Ergo, I am wasting my time watching the convention coverage.
The attacks by both republicans and democrats on each other are disconcerting.
Last night, Mr. finger-wagging Clinton was impressive. If I did not remember he finger wagged at the Grand Jury - essentially saying his response to the notorious sex question was legally correct, but clearly misleading, then I would buy into his oratory with my wallet. But I do remember his tell-tale finger wagging. And I am surprised that most people do not. Is there no public memory?
Clinton lied, admitted he lied, fought off impeachment and now is a revered statesman and chief fund raiser for the democratic party. Is this best they have? It does not take a fortune teller to know that the quid pro quo for the Obama endorsement was that Obama will support the Clinton nominee for president in 2016. Hillary? I doubt it, but the QPQ sealed the Clinton power for the next four years. And longer if Obama is reelected.
Clinton is persuasive because more often than not, form trumps content. Even I, who analyzes Clinton's word selection with a jaundiced view, am seduced by his finger wagging and plain talk. But make no mistake. He is a Rhodes scholar who keeps his large words and legal training in his brief case when he talks to the American people. And that skill is what makes him effective.
I am a writer of fiction novels. I know that the key to making fiction believable is to mix fiction with facts, frequently enough that the reader or listener loses track of the distinction.
Clinton is a master mixer and that skill is what make him dangerous.
