This never happened, but .....

Conversations that I only imagined.

“Take a close look at this chart. When we cut taxes, the economy booms. When we increase taxes, the economy tanks,” explained Buffett.

“Then why Mr. Buffett do you want me to tax the wealthy?” Asked Obama.  

“Look, we wealthy people have the best tax advisors in the business.  We will not pay any more taxes anyway. Plus, a few other super rich and I have dumped all our wealth into non-profit foundations, which pay no tax on at all,” replied Buffett.

“I get it now,” said Obama. “If we raise the taxes on the wealthy, the wealthy will join you in your tax free foundation,” replied Obama. “Right on,” said Buffett. “We will get $trillions in the foundation. 

“How does that help me?” Asked Obama. “When you leave the presidency, we will put you on our foundation’s board, and you can help us dole out $millions to  rest of the world. No accountability. No transparency. Pretty much what you are doing now. It will be fun. Plus, we are doing good things for millions of people around the world without the hassle of congressional approval. And of course you will get your own library,” explained Buffett.

“Not bad for a fellow who started out in green stamps,” Obama replied sardonically. “And by the way Warren, what is a green stamp?”

This never happened at all. But I can not for the life of me think of any other reason that taxing the wealthy has any merit. I would rather have them spend their money lavishly, creating bigger jobs for all, rather than create bigger government jobs for a few.
