This morning I had breakfast with another iPad owner. There are 300 million Americans and 300,000 iPad owners so the probability of that happening- “two iPad owners at breakfast,” - is approximately 1 in 1000.
My friend John Boucard, visiting KC from California, was the other owner. He had a zip-up case. I have the fold-up case. Both look and feel good. He had just bought the iPad doc and was encouraging me to purchase one too. I will buy it tomorrow. John was preferential to the WSJ app. I tried it and found it unsubscribably difficult, but I am going to try again based on my friend’s suggestion.
We talked about the HP entry into the iPad foray. HP publicists are labeling it the iPad killer. Hmm. Guess they do not own an iPad. The iPad app store is the “killer app.” Get it. HP can never have a killer app like that. Oh sure, HP will have some apps, maybe hundreds. Each HP app will work different and require you the user to look away from HP for app support. Each app will have its own user manual. It does not work. Users want seamless applications. No, it is not that we are Pavlovian mice or stupid humans, we are just users who want the benefit of the app without going to school.
And more. Lest you forget, the Steve Jobs ultimate smack down on Microsoft, other then the famous, “They have no class quote,” is that the whole user manual for the iPad is one sentence long. Do your get it? One sentence! I was up and running in minutes. I seriously doubt if any Windows product can produce anything with a one sentence user manual that makes sense. I watched more Netflix (BTW-hitting new market highs daily) movies in 3 hours than I watched on my PC in 5 years. Yes, and Winnie the Pooh is fabulous.
What is the big take away today?
My two sons and my wife and I have played 9 games of “Words with Friends” in the last 3 days. And to you non-believers, I can assure you this game is far more educational than 4 hours of TV. Oh yes, you can play while you watch. Right now for example I have 3 games going at the same time. No TV. Just work.
There is a huge Killer App coming to the Killer App iPad store. I wish I could talk about it now.
Keep your ears up and your eyes open. It's happening.
Greetings from Rancho Mirage, another day in Paradise!Carol, Mike, and I have spent time trying to decode David Dawson's message as we have never been to Alaska, but we are baffled and puzzled. If there is no winner,do you plan to extend the deadline? If so, we could seek help from outside sources. Miss you and Helen, wish you were here! See you soon. Stan and Carol.
